Buttermilk Poha aka Majagi Avalakki

Ingredients:

- 2 cups (200 gms) of thick Poha.
- 1/2 cup of Buttermilk
- 2 finely chopped Chillies
- 1/2 diced Onion
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 4-5 curry leaves
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 3 tsp of Metkut (available in stores or you can make it at home metkut recipe)
- 1 1/2 tsp of sugar
- salt as per taste
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 4-5 sprigs of coriander leaves
- 2 tsp of fresh grated coconut
- 6-7 peanuts
Instructions:
- Soak Poha into buttermilk in a deep bowl.
- Place a small wok on low flame and add oil.
- Add peanuts to the oil and fry them until golden brown and transfer them to a bowl.
- In the same oil, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chillies and curry leaves to the wok and mix gently.
- Add onions to the wok and saute them until translucent.
- Sprinkle turmeric powder once the onions are translucent. Add asafoetida and turn off the flame.
- Add this tempering to the Poha.
- Add Metkut and chili powder to the Poha and gently mix all the ingredients together.
- Sprinkle some coriander and grated coconut to complete the dish
- Serve immediately.
